Dr. Rick Doner
Dr. Rick graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1984 and started his career at a local mixed animal practice, where he worked for seven years. Over that time he discovered that he greatly enjoyed working with small animals. Shortly after moving to Beaverton in 1991, he had the opportunity to buy the Glenroy Veterinary Clinic in town. The practice grew quickly and in 1995, Dr. Rick and his wife designed and constructed a new building on their property in its present location, changing the name to Beaverton Crossroads Veterinary Services.
Since partnering with Dr. Les Sadoch in 2005, Dr. Rick now shares the management of this busy practice and enjoys the balance of time spent at the clinic as well as time spent at home with his wife, their golden retriever and six equines. Dr. Rick and his wife enjoy their Connemara ponies, gardening, traveling, woodworking, photography and community theatre along with church and community involvement. …But the best part is that you will see grandchildren running around the farm, enjoying the animals and the fresh country air. Perhaps another veterinarian in the making?
Dr. Les Sadoch
Dr. Les graduated from the Veterinary School in Olsztyn, Poland in 1984. He worked in the Veterinary Research Institute until 1990, when he moved to Canada. Between 1994 and 1997 he worked at a small animal practice in central Newfoundland where he made frequent trips to a satellite clinic in Labrador. In 1997, Dr. Les moved back to Ontario and joined Dr. Rick at Beaverton Crossroads as an associate veterinarian. This changed in 2005 when Dr. Rick and Dr. Les decided to partner together.
Dr. Les now lives with his wife in Bolsover. After losing their second Labrador, Lola, they are both looking for another perfect canine companion. When not on clinical duty at Beaverton Crossroads, Dr. Les enjoys gardening, travelling, the challenges of technical scuba diving, snowboarding and target shooting.
Dr. Aimee Gilbert
Dr. Aimee graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2005, after first finishing a Bachelor of Science in Animal Biology at the Ontario Agricultural College in 2001. She knew from a very young age that being a veterinarian was what she was meant to do.
Having grown up just north of Cannington, Dr. Aimee has long been familiar with the local area and has been working at Beaverton Crossroads since she graduated. She particularly enjoys helping people understand how to best care for their furry friends. In addition to dogs and cats, she also cares for other types of small pets such as rabbits, ferrets, rats, guinea pigs and others.
She now lives north of Beaverton with her small crew of furry family members. Aside from working at the clinic, Dr. Aimee enjoys taking part in the worship music at her church, spending time with friends and family, reading and working in her garden.
Dr. Erin Rubert
Dr. Erin graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2004. After working for a couple of mixed animal clinics in western Canada, Dr. Erin operated a solo veterinarian practice in rural Manitoba in 2006 where she provided veterinary coverage to the large ranching community. Dr. Erin moved back to Ontario in 2011 along with her dog, McCoy, horses Whiskey, Rooster and Brego, and horned Hereford heifer, Sophie. When not working Dr. Erin enjoys mounted foxhunting and competitive long-distance riding.
Dr. Melissa Marshman
Dr. Melissa grew up in Cannington and first began as a volunteer at Beaverton Crossroads Veterinary Services. She completed a high school co-op program with Beaverton Crossroads and then began her first after-school job at the clinic many moons ago. After graduating high school she spent nine years at the University of Guelph where she completed her Bachelor of Science in Animal Biology, a Masters of Science in Animal Welfare & Behaviour and then went on to obtain her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Ontario Veterinary College. Melissa is very happy to be back in the area living with her rescue animals: “One-Eyed” Wilma, a gray cat; and Charlie, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Dr. Melissa likes to spend her time away from work enjoying the great outdoors hiking, kayaking and biking.
Dr. ROwena LimBrick
After graduating from the University of Edinburgh and residing in Scotland for the past five years, Dr. Rowena is happy to be back in Ontario and excited to begin her practice with us here at Beaverton Crossroads.
Having grown up with dogs and horses all her life, Dr. Rowena is no stranger to large breed animals. Her family currently owns a horse, a pony, a German Shepherd and a Flat Coated Retriever.
Dr. Rowena is excited to explore all aspects of the general practice—particularly preventative and internal medicine and behavioural issues—and looks forwarding to meeting small animal patients besides cats and dogs as well.
